Gas prices won't gobble up your paycheck this Thanksgiving

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, gas prices in Amarillo are continuing on their downward trend.

In the last week, the average price of unleaded fuel in the city dropped by three cents to land at $3.23 per gallon, according to AAA Texas

Going back a month, gas prices were $3.50 per gallon.

Gas prices are nearly the same now as they were at the same time last year. Last year's price was $3.22 per gallon.

Amarillo's average price of gas remains higher than the state's average of $3.16 per gallon. The national average went down three cents in the last week to settle at $3.41 per gallon.

The cheapest gas in Texas can be found in Beaumont where it's $3.06 per gallon. El Paso has the most expensive at $3.30 per gallon.

AAA Texas estimated about 3.3 million Texans will hit the road for the Thanksgiving holiday.
