AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Those traveling through downtown on Buchanan Street can expect some minor delays through January, the City of Amarillo said.

The delays will happen as a result of construction of a sanitary sewer main.

Officials said Phase I of the project requires the closure of the eastern most northbound lane on Buchanan Street. Phase II, according to officials, will require the closure of the western most northbound lane on Buchanan Street.

Traffic will be reduced to two northbound lanes from Southeast 7th Avenue to Southeast 4th Avenue, officials said.

The project is expected to be completed by Jan, 1, 2013.

Work on the project will normally take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
