AMARILLO, TEXAS -- This Thanksgiving, two local charities have offered their help to the less fortunate.

Martha's Home and The Salvation Army prepared Thanksgiving meals to those in need. From basting a turkey, to slicing pie, everyone had their part in making Thanksgiving Day so special for deserving families.

Martha's Home helps women and children in Amarillo by providing food and shelter, job assistance, and counseling. They prepared a Thanksgiving turkey, homemade cranberry sauce, and classic candied yams.

The Salvation Army, and an army of 200 volunteers, provided 300 guests with a Thanksgiving meal. Several donations of baked goods, turkeys, and even flower arrangements helped make the dining hall feel like home.

The spirit of giving was in full force as residents of Amarillo came together as a community to serve the less fortunate.
