Preliminary autopsy shows Randall County inmate hung himself

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Preliminary autopsy results in on Wednesday show the inmate who died in the Randall County Jail on Saturday night hung himself, according to the Randall County Sheriff's Office.

Police said 19-year-old Branden Lee Bellinghausen of Amarillo was found unconscious in his cell around 9 p.m., Saturday.

CPR was performed on Bellinghausen but he was unable to be revived.

Bellinghausen had been an inmate in the Randall County Jail since Sept. 7 on a charge of evading arrest.
