Portales police nab 3 in stolen vehicle

PORTALES, N.M. -- Portales Police arrested three people Wednesday afternoon in a stolen vehicle.

According to police, the vehicle, a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, was reported stolen and at about 6 p.m., Wednesday, an off duty police officer noticed it.

The officer followed the vehicle and notified police. It was determined by a communications offer that the vehicle was reported stolen.

The stolen vehicle, according to police, was stopped by uniformed officers in the 1000 block of West Second Street.

Brandi Medina, 32, the driver, was arrested along with Manuel Ortega, 48, and Orlando Cleto. Medina and Ortega are both from Portales and Cleto is from Tucson, Ariz.

All were charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Media was also charged with concealment of identification and suspended driver's license. Additionally, Ortega was wanted on bench warrant for failaure to appear.
