AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo City Commissioners approved a grant for the West Texas A&M Enterprise Center.

Amarillo Economic Development Corporation will present the center with $500,000 for a proposed expansion project. The $8 million expansion of its existing facilities includes a three-phase process. The first phase includes building a new administration area, complete with shared conference rooms, a kitchen, and administration offices.

The AEDC will offer the grant once fundraising for the project is complete. The center, which offers small businesses and entrepreneurs the educational classes and mentors, hopes the expansion will bring the entrepreneurial spirit back to Amarillo.

With a 78 percent success rate for small businesses that have used facilities and resources offered at the Enterprise Center, the city of Amarillo is enthusiastic that the expansion will lead to job growth and innovation around the Panhandle.
