AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A local Boy Scout troop helped homeowner Linda Meyers after her home was ruined by an accidental fire.

On December 20th, 2012, Meyers discovered flames erupting from her grandson's closet, and immediately called 9-1-1. The fire eventually destroyed the room, leaving the family to evacuate the home just days before Christmas.

Troop 80 helped in the moving process, assisting the family with transferring their possessions to a storage unit. Linda and her family were forced to leave the property with all of their belongings before renovations on the home could begin.

The Boy Scouts donated their time to "turn a good deed", a Boy Scout motto that all scouts are encouraged to follow.
