AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A head-on crash north of Amarillo claimed the lives of two local residents. One of the victims was 36-year-old Melissa Flores of Dumas. The other was former Pronews 7 employee, 27-year-old Andrew Jared Swope.
Known as "A.J." by friends and family members, he began working at K-V-I-I after graduating from West Texas A&M University. He served as a Reporter/Anchor for Pronews 7, and eventually became the Assignment Editor.
For the past 4 years, A.J. was the Executive Director of the wind-energy company, Class Four Winds. He is also known for his musical talents. A musician with his band, A.J. Swope and The Last Train Home, A.J. had a passion for the craft.
Services for A.J. are scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo.
The family asks that in lieu of gifts, donations be made to the A.J. Swope Memorial Scholarship in care of WTAMU Foundation.
