Motorcyclist hospitalized after Wednesday morning crash

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo Police responded to an accident involving a motorcycle this morning at approximately at 7:20 a.m. this morning.

Officers responded to the accident in the 2300 block of Ross-Osage Street.

After investigation officers indicated that a blue 2000 Chevrolet Pickup driven by George Edward Owen, 56, was crossing the street from a private drive to another private drive when a red 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle braked to avoid hitting the pickup.

Douglass Allen King, 55, was driving the motorcycle which fell to the pavement.

The motorcycle did not hit the pickup but the rider may have suffered life-threatening injuries from the fall. King was not wearing a helmet and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

APD Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the accident. At this time no charges have been filed.
