AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Monday night at approximately 8:47p.m. Amarillo Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1500 block of north east 3rd at Medley Forklift.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the fire was visible from the outside and heavy smoke in the building.

The Fire Marshal was unable to determine the cause of the fire last night. However, upon further investigation it has been determined the fire was started when an employee spilled flammable liquids which were then ignited by an open flame space heater.

One employee did suffer injuries from the fire and was transported to a hospital by emergency medical responders. The employee was treated for smoke inhalation and has since been released.

Fire crews stayed at the scene throughout the night according to a news release from AFD.
