AMARILLO, TEXAS -- God of Wonders Fellowship hosted a fundraiser Saturday and Sunday not only to benefit the children's ministry at the church, but to offer products for couples since Valentine's Day is just around the corner.
Domestications of Amarillo set up booths at the church with toys, candles, perfume, jewelry and personalized signs for shoppers to browse through.
"When they come in we ask that they bring a non-perishable food item for the food pantry," God of Wonders Children's Ministry Worker Deadra Carver said. "It also kind of supports the local businesses of Amarillo because all of us are working on our own as far as that goes, so it kind of helps support local businesses, as well."
The church provides food for those in need, whether they be homeless or broken down on I-40. The money raised from the products sold goes toward the AWANA program.
"The kids come on Wednesday nights from 6:45 to 8:15," Carver stated, "and we do bible verses and we play games and we have snacks and we have a little counsel time where we teach them about the gospel of Christ."
According to Carver, the ministry is a major focus of the church because it is one of the church's best outreach programs.
"A lot of underprivileged people in our area and, so, we don't like to turn them away because they can't pay. Our goal is to reach out to the children and teach them about the gospel of Christ and God's love and also reach their families, as well."
