AMARILLO, TEXAS -- With a $550 million dollar jackpot, and an estimated $360.2 million cash value before taxes, swarms of people hit local gas stations and convenience stores in an effort to be the newest Powerball winner.

Jumping from $400 million to $550 million within the course of the day, a bigger jackpot lured many Amarillo residents to try their luck for tonight's drawing.  Whether playing alone, or with coworkers, all  powerball players had high hopes of being becoming the newest winner by the end of the day. While many were feeling lucky, others felt their odds were one in a million.

If there is no announced winner for tonight's drawing, the jackpot will grow to an astounding $900 million dollar jackpot.
