Canyon Police and Water Department employees will begin monitoring compliance with the drought contingency plan. Those who are found to be in violation will be first warned or cited for violating the water restrictions in the form of a door hanger.

The city has also created a database to start tracking violators. Those found to be consistent transgressors of the ordinance will be cited fines from 50-500. The city may also refuse service to heavy offenders.

Citizens of Canyon who are provided water service are asked to follow the plan as follows:

Day of the Week - Last Digit of Address

• Monday             No Irrigation Allowed

• Tuesday            Odd Numbers (1,3,5,7,9)

• Wednesday       Even Numbers (0,2,4,6,8)

• Thursday           Odd Numbers (1,3,5,7,9)

• Friday               Even Numbers (0,2,4,6,8)

• Saturday           Odd Numbers (1,3,5,7,9)

• Sunday             Even Numbers (0,2,4,6,8)

Hand watering will be allowed for a maximum of one hour per day, any day. Watering will be allowed during the hours of 8:00 pm until 12:00 midnight and 12:00 midnight until 10:00 am on designated days.

The city also recommends that sprinklers be checked for cracked, broken, damaged or misaligned heads.

The city strongly discourages non-essential water use such as washing of vehicles, driveways, structures. Water used to fill pools, hot tubs, fountains and ponds.
