City of Amarillo adopts water conservation plan update

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo City Commission approved and adopted the requires five-year update to the Water Conservation Plan on Tuesday.

The plan includes conservation goals and strategies to reduce consumption of water, to improve the efficiency of water use, to increase recycling and reuse, and to prevent water pollution.

"The water conservation plan, that the commission is look at right now is the third edition," Director of Utilities Emmett Autrey said. "The main goal, is to set a goal for the gallons of water used per person per day."

Adoption of the update was required by the Texas Administrative Code.
