AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo elementary teacher is now officially charged with sexual assault of a child after an investigation had been launched accusing the teacher of inappropriate sexual activities with a 15-year-old boy.

District Attorney Randall Sims confirmed to Pronews 7, Julie Ann Moore, 34, was charged Tuesday. She was booked into custody just before 3:00 Tuesday afternoon. Moore has already posted a $7,500 bond, Sims said. She was released on conditions that she cannot be around anyone under the age of 17 except for her own children.

The investigation revealed Moore allegedly sent sexually explicit text messages to a 15-year-old boy more than 100 times. Additionally, she is accused of having a sexual relationship with the boy and two other Amarillo High School students.

Moore, a third grade teacher at Sanborn Elementary School, was placed on paid administrative leave, the Amarillo Independent School District said in a statement Friday. AISD also said it was cooperating with authorities and was concerned with the allegations.

Texas Rangers along with the Texas Department of Public Safety launched the investigation after a Trooper said he saw Moore and a 15-year-old boy act suspicious and walk off together during a football game.

Several electronic devices were seized as part of the investigation. One of the boys provided an audio recorded statement. In the statement, he detailed his sexual relationship with Moore. The boy said he received about 100 text messages from Moore with about half of them being "extremely sexually explicit," according to the affidavit.

Additionally, the boy told investigators he suspected Moore of having sexual intercourse with one of his 15-year-old friends.

The search warrant affidavit filed Friday indicated Moore is married. It also said students were reportedly suspecting a sexual relationship with one of the boys and Moore.
