AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The City Commissioners and Mayor of Amarillo doled out a few proclamations to local groups Tuesday.

One proclamation they gave to the Drug Free Community Coalition - Impact Futures. April has now been proclaimed Alcohol Awareness Month. To help educate parents, students and others, Impact Futures will host three town hall meetings on underage drinking.

"The teens are there to talk to their parents about what's really going on in schools as far as alcohol and underage drinking. We just want to raise awareness about alcoholism and underage drinking," said Impact Futures Project DIrector, LaVisa Matthews.

The first of those meetings was held Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. The second will be Tuesday, April 17 at Amarillo United Citizens Forum at 901 N. Hayden and the third the next Tuesday, April 24 at Wesley Community Center 1516 S. Roberts.
