DPS said two people were killed in the crash. Pilot Kelly Oneal of Colorado Springs and 79-year-old Robert Oneal were pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said.

The plane had stopped in Amarillo to pick up a passenger and for unknown reasons, the plane went down and crashed into a field about 20 miles southweat of Amarillo's airport, DPS said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety located a small plane that went down Friday evening.

DPS confirmed to Pronews 7 the plane went down in South Armstrong County.

According to sources, the plane went off the radar Friday evening and eyewitnesses said the plane went down.

DPS launched its helicopter immediately to assist in the recovery efforts.

The plane that is believed to have gone down was a Beechcraft King Air 90 owned out of Colorado Springs. Sources said the plane was headed to Fort Worth.

The plane had two engines and was a 10-seater, according to its registration.
