AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Texas Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross sent two volunteers to help assess the damage in the tornado ravaged Dallas-Forth Worth area.

The two volunteers, Raenell Gore and Jody Sosebee, left at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning in the Emergency Response Vehicle.

They will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth area anywhere from one to three weeks helping in disaster relief following Tuesday's severe weather outbreak.

"They actually drive up and down the streets of the affected areas and go right up to the people at their homes and help them out," said Martha Riddlespurger, Red Cross Field Specialist.

"They're going out to the different places that were affected they'll be delivering snacks, food, and water to people that are at their homes doing clean up, they'll also be delivering a lot of clean up kids, shovels, gloves if it gets hot, insect repellant," said Riddlespurger.

"It's really indescribable because we'll see a car sitting on top of a house or a tree is wrapped around the house, so you never know what you're going to see," said Gore.

If you would like to help tornado victims in the area, you can call our local Red Cross chapter at 376-6309.
