AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The first major snowfall of the winter season led many drivers around Amarillo to cautious driving practices while driving through town.

The slick conditions had many using reduced speeds on surface streets and highways to avoid collisions. For some, the holiday snowfall was welcome surprise.

Spinning tires and sliding cars were seen all across town. Authorities urged Amarillo residents to stay off the roads, unless necessary. Major highways and access roads had moderate amounts of traffic due to the winter snow and Christmas holiday.
