DALHART, TEXAS -- Dalhart police confiscate more than 30 pounds of marijuana in a traffic stop, arresting the driver on felony drug possession charges.

The Dalhart police officer pulled over a vehicle with California tags along the 900 block of U.S. Highway 87 about 3:30 p.m., Sunday, said Sgt. David R. Conner on Monday.

Soubinh Vongsavanthon, 34, consented to a search of the vehicle, were the officer found more than 30 pounds of Marijuana in the trunk of the car, Conner said.

Vongsavanthon was arrested with possession of marijuana more than 5 pounds but less than 50 pounds with the intent to deliver. Upon questioning the officer learned that the vehicle had a destination of Wichita, Kansas, traveling from San Diego, California, according to Conner.

Vongsavanthon is awaiting arraignment, according to jail officials.
