AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo Police are investigating an armed robbery at a downtown business Thursday morning.

Police responded to the Old Corral Coffee Club at the 1300 block of South Taylor on a reported robbery,

A female employee told police she had just returned to the main room after opening and turning on the lights and found a man standing.

She had not seen the man entering the building, police said.

The suspect, according to police, had his hand in his jacket pocket as if he had a gun and gestured toward her. He told the woman he "just needed the money," police said.

The employee placed the cash drawer on the counter and the suspect took the money bag from the drawer and fled, police said.

He is being described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, six feet tall and wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket with the hood over his head and blue jeans.

No injures were reported, police said.
