Crosbyton Police have discovered the remains of missing 2-year-old Leah Marie Aguirre.

Aguirre was found in a box in the basement of the home of her caretaker, Matilda Almaraz, a friend of the child's mother, police said.

Alamaraz has been arrested and charged with Capital murder for the death of Aguirre, according to news reports.

Tina Aguirre, Leah's mother is being investigated by CPS  after Leah's disapperance and after reports surfaced that Tina was trying to sell her daughter for $2000.00 and transport her to Mexico, news reports said.

It has been reported that more arrests will be made in connection with the case, however no other arrests have been made at this time.

Leah's disappearance sparked an Amber Alert and the FBI, Texas Rangers and other local authorities were brought in to investigate the case.

The original story in Leah's disappearance was that a CPS worker named "Miguel" had come to take the child into state custody. CPS confirmed that the child was not in their custody.

A search warrant was ordered for Almaraz's house in 500 block of Ayrshire Street in Crosybyton after comments she made concerning her basement, police said.
