Clovis votes in new mayor

CLOVIS, N.M. -- The City of Clovis will have a new leader after the incumbent was beat out by a previous three-term mayor.

Mayor Gayla Brumfeld was going after a second term. Former three-term mayor David Lansford won the race by more than 1,000 votes.

Lansford received 2,914 votes and Brumfeld received 1,710 votes.

Also in Clovis were three contested City Commission races:

District 1
Randall Crowder - 1,060
Janice Elliott - 518

District 2 
John Jones - 336
Sandra Taylor-Sawyer - 468

District 4
Chris Bryant - 944
R.L. "rube" Render - 678

A ban on dual service on the City and Curry County Commissions passed overwhelmingly.

For - 3,742
Against - 784
