SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) - Fire crews are heading back to the scene of a wildfire that was sparked by a train south of Silver City to finish corralling the blaze. Firefighters were able to get ahead of the blaze yesterday afternoon after it burned about 1,000 acres west of the Grants County airport. Today fire crews will finish mopping up hot spots.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Bernalillo County authorities say they still can't identify the bodies of two people found in a burned-out vehicle on Pajarito Mesa. Sheriff Dan Houston says an accelerant was probably used and burned the bodies beyond recognition. KOB-TV says authorities executed a search warrant at a home on San Pedro and Anderson in Albuquerque that matched the address of the registered owner of the SUV.

CHAPARRAL, N.M. (AP) - Investigators in Dona Ana County say they don't suspect foul play in the death of a Chaparral man found dead in his car weeks after being reported missing. A body believed to be that of 66-year-old Hector Gardea was found in his car in the desert near his home on Tuesday. Investigators believe he had been there for at least a couple of weeks.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Susana Martinez says her administration will develop a new system this summer for evaluating the performance of teachers and principals partly based on student achievement. Martinez said yesterday the system will be made final this summer and be fully implemented in the 2013-2014 school year.
