AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Schools are always trying to find different ways to get the message of tobacco prevention to kids.
But after what Amarillo Independent School District's middle schoolers did Thursday, it appears spreading that message was never as much fun.
The students were all out at the Cadillac Ranch spray-painting their messages onto the vehicles buried there.
Each car is unique and colorful now with that theme. Each school is also competing for a chance to win best in show for this.
"We have lots of different ideas a lot of creative things going on they really done a great job this year and I think they're pretty excited to be here," said Megan Williams, Tobacco Free Amarillo Director.
But the important part of the day, of course, is teaching the students the dangers of using products with tobacco in them.
"We're fighting a billion dollar industry. The tobacco companies are arming these kids every day with messages on why they should smoke, what they should smoke, how they can get. It's absolutely imperative that you tell these kids and they know that smoking is bad," said Williams.
The students from the winning school get free movie passes. Bonham Middle School took first place, Fannin Middle School second, and Crockett Middle School third.
