CANYON, TEXAS -- Looking for a little exercise? Here's a suggestion -- why not walk in WTAMU's Relay for Life?
West Texas A&M University is gearing up for this event in a nationwide effort in the fight against cancer. The Relay take place at the Buffalo Sports Park at WTAMU on the weekend of April 20-21 and will last from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Not only is the University asking you to get involved, you're also urged to team up with family, friends or best of all, survivors, to help raise some cash during the event. Teams will be striving to raise a whopping $1,000 during the 12-hour event.
Calling all night owls! Since the walk lasts all night, each team must have at least one member walking/jogging/running in the relay the entire night.
Last year's WTAMU was so successful, it was given one of the American Cancer Society's highest honors. It was also recognized at Relay University in Lubbock with the Heart of Relay Award for increasing the 2011 relay funds raised by 269 percent!
You can help make "this" year's WTAMU just as successful by getting involved. Just call event co-chair, Alyson Cantu at 651-5304 or send an e-mail to acantu@wtamu.edu or at relayforlife.org/cantutx.
