GUYMON, OKLA. -- Thousands are expected to flock to the Oklahoma Panhandle this weekend.

That's because of Guymon's 80th annual Pioneer Day Weekend.

It's a tradition spanning decades. It's fun for the whole family with activities ranging from one of the largest PRCA rodeos to a carnival and a parade. Along the ride, residents and tourists can enjoy Mutton Bustin', a 5K run, a community breakfast, pancake eating contests,  the Rotary Barbecue, rodeo dances, concerts and a tractor pull.

All the fun starts this week with rodeo performances ending with a final performance Sunday afternoon.

According to the Guymon Chamber of Commerce, the rodeo is the 10th largest rodeo in prize money in PRCA and is the fifth largest outdoor rodeo. In 2006, the rodeo saw more than 900 contestants and more than $385,000 in prize money.

This year, the rodeo is awarding nearly $400,000 in cash prizes, rodeo officials said.

The events are estimated to bring in more than $2 million to the city's businesses.

Guymon residents and visitors are asked to dress Western all week or risk getting thrown in a fake jail.

For more information on Texas County's largest event and a complete schedule of the events and activities, go to the Pioneer Days website.
