Several area fire departments are working on putting a grass fire out in Deaf Smith County.

It sparked Saturday afternoon near County Road 2 and County Road EE, between Hereford and Canyon.

Hereford's Fire Department says it's under control and mostly in open field.

Several barns and other structures have been threatened. One house did burn, but officials say it was vacant.

No evacuations are in place. Officials say one person did suffer smoke inhalation, but is doing fine.
