AMARILLO, TEXAS -- There was 32-hundred pounds of sausage, 8-hundred pounds of potato salad and cole slaw, not to mention 2-hundred pounds of pinto beans, and believe it or not it was all on the menu at the annual Sacred Heart Catholic Church's Polish sausage dinner in White Deer.
The event brings in 18-hundred folks from as far away as New Mexico to eat all that food, and the dinner has been a White Deer tradition since 1939.
"Besides the food, because the food is delicious, it's almost like a family reunion for our parish because we've got children and grandchildren that come back, they help, they take sausage back to their home towns, and so it's a wonderful fellowship event," said Carolyn Rapstine, Dinner Publicity Chairman.
The event also featured historical artifacts from the original pioneers in White Deer along with the country store bake sale will all kinds of homemade goodies.
