AMARILLO, TEXAS -- United Way held its annual luncheon to say thanks to all the volunteers in Amarillo and Canyon, who helped them surpass its goal for 2009.  The event kicked off with a little music from its Co-Chairs, West Texas A&M President J.Pat O'Brien and Pantex President Greg Meyer.  They handed awards out to all of the companies and volunteers who helped the United Way raise $5,291,000.  That's more than last years total, and more than a little surprising in these tough times.  " We always work hard, and everybody here put in 110% effort into it. So I know given the quality of our volunteers that we would make our goal." Said Carolyn Balzar President of the Board for Untied Way.  With all of the money raised, the United Way will be able to help over 100,000 families in the area.
