The first day of August is shaping up to be a breezy and hot day with a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky. Upper level high pressure will keep our rain chances at bay, and help our afternoon high temperatures to climb into the mid 90s to around 103°. So yes... expect it to be warmer than it has been recently. Winds will blow from the south and southwest at 15 to 25 mph by the afternoon with some gusts upwards of 35-40 mph possible as well.

As, the cleanup and aid go on in Haiti, there are new developments this weekend in the case of Jim Allen of Amarillo and the nine other U.S. missionaries who are charged with child kidnapping in that country.

The haitian lawyer who represented that group has been fired. Attorney Edwin Coq allegedly tried to bribe the missionaries' way out of jail.

Coq denied the allegations, and said the $60,000 he requested from the American's families was his fee.

However, the man who fired him said Coq was orchestrating some kind of extortion with government officials.
