The first day of August is shaping up to be a breezy and hot day with a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky. Upper level high pressure will keep our rain chances at bay, and help our afternoon high temperatures to climb into the mid 90s to around 103°. So yes... expect it to be warmer than it has been recently. Winds will blow from the south and southwest at 15 to 25 mph by the afternoon with some gusts upwards of 35-40 mph possible as well.

Jim Allen's church friends and family are praying that he'll be released soon. He's one of the 10 missionaries who are charged with child kidnapping in Haiti.

It was the main topic of conversation today at Jim's church, which is Amarillo's Paramount Baptist.  Jim's friends are certain that he never would have ''knowingly'' broken any laws, or participated in any activity that would have been harmful to children.

"Yes we're here specifically for Jim. He was going down there to help people, knowing his heart and his history and his ethics, there was no way he could even conceive of doing anything wrong," said Joe Luscombe, Jim's Friend and Business Associate.

The Southern Baptist Convention has asked President Obama to do ''everything'' in his power to secure the release of the 10 missionaries.

Secretary of state Hillary Clinton said, the U.S. government will provide support, but said, ''The issue is a matter for the Haitian judicial system.''
