The Kathy Ryan Rural Fire and Rescue Endowment fund announced the first recipient of its annual scholarship award.
Seth Lagunas was awarded a $3500 scholarship on Thursday. He is a member of the Panhandle Volunteer Fire Department and will be attending the Amarillo College Fire Academy in the fall of 2010.
The fund was created to honor the 4th Anniversary of the death of Kathy Ryan, who died in the 2006 wildfires.
