AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The city has picked Dr. David French as the new Medical Director. It's the first time the city has had a director of this sort but officials say, the change is needed.
Dr. French will focus on helping the cities EMS services, dispatch, and fire department work seamlessly together to bring us better care.
His first day is April 1st and he already has big plans.
David French said "We're looking a lot at how we do things for EMS, looking at how well staff perform, improving educational pieces. We are trying to increase the level of service the fire department provides, also looking at dispatch and how well they are functioning."
He also plans to attain better health equipment for emergency vehicles.
The City Commission approved the new job position yesterday.
