BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - Beaumont police say an officer shot to death a man armed with a knife who was coming toward police and onlookers outside a mall.
Police have not yet released the name of the 63-year-old man shot Tuesday evening at Parkdale Mall.
Police responded to the mall after getting a call that a man was behaving oddly. Police say the man was shot once in the chest and was then pronounced dead at a Beaumont hospital.
Per department policy, the officer will be placed on leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation into the shooting.
