AMARILLO, TX -- Experience matters when it comes to dealing with emergencies, and now more Texans in the Panhandle can be better prepared when it comes to that.
It was all part of an outreach tour by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
It's hosting a 17 city "Ready or Not" Tour to make sure people are prepared for disasters.
The event featured a checklist challenge that tests people's knowledge about essential emergency supplies and samples of a disaster supply kit.
"We focus on family, essentials, and information making sure that your family has a plan. Essentials is making sure you have all of your important documents together and also a grab and go kit with essential supplies, and then information to stay current and up to date like watch the news, have your radio on -- that sort of thing," said Anna Toon, Emergency Preparation Specialist.
The outreach tour will be at the Canyon Wal-Mart tomorrow and then the Hereford Wal-Mart on Tuesday.
