Fun filled activities offer alternatives to trick-or-treating

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Halloween is this weekend, and if you are looking for some alternatives to the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating, we have put together a list of a few things going on across the area this weekend. Several churches have events scheduled along with several organizations. If you know of an event that we missed please let us know about it, by posting a comment below. And we hope everyone has a safe and fun filled Halloween this year.

 

Thursday:
Randall High School, Halloween Happening from 6-8:00 p.m., open to the public and free admission.

Friday:

American Red Cross, 1800 South Harrison
Friday, 1-4:00 p.m. Trick-or-Treating

Churches:

Bell Avenue Baptist Church
Fall Festival, Saturday 2:00-4:00 p.m.

First Baptist Church
Family Life Center, 6-8:00
Family fun, games and treats. No scary costumes please.

Hillside Christian Church
Sunday, Trunk or Treat, 6:00 p.m.
Trunk or Treat has been taken over by the "Mad Scientist." He will be setting up his "Mad Laboratory" for all ages at the church, and there will be live experiments every 20 minutes. Rumor has it that whichever experiments he does, things will get smashed, thrown or disappear. Hillside will have multiple classic and unique "trunks" that will be stocked with treats for the whole family. You don't want to miss out on this event; come witness the "Mad Scientist's" madness.

River Road Baptist Church
Fall Festival, Sunday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
A fun filled night for the whole family. There will be free food, games, and of course PRIZES! A safe alternative to other Halloween festivities. Everyone is welcome to attend.

St. Johns Catholic Church
Dome in Borger, Saturday 6-9:00 p.m.

South Georgia Baptist Church
Trunk or Treat, Sunday 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Trinity Fellowship Christian Church
Lord of the Harvest, Sunday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Cost is $5 per person, tickets can be bought at the door.
Lord of the Harvest is the church's annual fall festival, and this year it will be at Trinity Fellowship. The main foyer around the Worship Center will be filled with carnival-style games, bouncers, food and fun activities for all ages. Food vendors with all your favorite fair foods, along with hayrides and a costume contest. And did we mention candy? There will be plenty of that to go around too!

Amarillo Zoo
Boo at the Zoo!
Saturday and Sunday, 5:30-8:00 p.m.
Tickets $5 adult, $4 seniors, $3 children, and children 2 and under get in free. Come in costume, see the animals and trick or treat in a safe environment.

HPRC's Halloween Happening
Saturday 6:00- 9:00 p.m.
Come out for free trick-or-treating and carnival at High Plains Retreat Center.
It will be a fun evening with
* trick-or-treating at our cabins * a carnival in the conference center with carnival games and a cake walk * concession stands with hot dogs, frito pie, hot chocolate, coffee, etc.

Westgate Mall
Mall-O-Ween, Saturday, Trick-or-Treating begins at 6:30.

Jump-n-Jive
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 12-7:00 p.m.
AmaDazzle Arts and Jump-n-Jive are teaming up to offer a safe alternative to Halloween masks. Face painting will be available at Jump-n-Jive all weekend. Prices for face paintings start at only $4.00. Custom faces and costume matching designs will also be available, either by appointment or walk-in.

Acapulco's 
Costume Contest
Saturday Night 10:00pm

Toys 'R' Us, Amarillo
Saturday,12 - 3pm the store will be holding its "Geoffrey's Halloween Parade Featuring Crayola!" Kids can dress in their ghoulish garb to meet Geoffrey and receive a complimentary, reusable Trick "R" Treat bag. They can also decorate a special Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF collection box to express their style before collecting change... for kids in need.
