AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Back in early 2009 we informed you that a German-based wind company chose Amarillo for one of their new plants.
The Zarges company broke ground last year , off of North Lakeside Drive, for their 80,000 square foot building,
Here's the latest update.
"We're still 30 to 60 days from having equipment up and operating, but we are moving in now and we'll gradually ramp up operations until that equipment comes in. So, between now and probably April, May, and June time-frame you'll see hiring," said Tim Dannels, Zarges Managing Director.
Dannels says they expect to employ up to 100 to 150 employees depending on the state of the economy and business.
"We hope to be here for the long run and we intend to take this facility, grow this facility, grow our business line here and hopefully bring other Zarges business units here to Amarillo, Texas."
The Zarges plant here will focus on the manufacturing, designing and distributing of wind tower internal systems.
They say that as of right now they aren't ready to begin accepting applications for jobs, but hope to begin that process by May. We will continue to follow the company's progress here in Amarillo and will let you know when they begin accepting applications.
