AMARILLO, TX -- If you're filing your income tax return using an e-z form or one with no deductions, you should get you return back pretty quickly...but others are having to wait a little while.
If you itemize things like the interest on your mortgage or the cost of higher education...you can still go ahead and file for your refund...but you'll have to wait until next week to see your return.
That's because new laws extended in 2010 are causing a delay for itemeized returns, according to Larry White, C.P.A. with Brown, Graham & Company.
"If you just have a W-2 and no itemized deducation, then you're not going to be affected by teis law and those who do itemize, generally it takes a while to get all the information in anyway, so at this point in time, not too many people are going to be affected by this...But the IRS didn't have time until now to get their software updated and then the software providers for tax preparers also are getting software updates.
White says a lot of the software being used by tax preparers is being brought up to date, which is also contributing to the delay.
