BUSHLAND, TEXAS -- Passing along kindness. It's a simple act that a group of high school students are hoping they'll be able to encourage others to do. A small group of students at Bushland High School who are a part of the FFCLA program decided to start a movement. Setting out to do "Random Acts of Kindness" for people in the community and you paying it forward. Pronews 7 is shining the spotlight on the program in this week's Region 16 Education Spotlight report.

"They came up with this "Random Acts of Kindness," where they can do little things. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money it can be as simple as helping someone that dropped a book, it could be something such as paying for the person behind you's coffee, buying someone a soda. It could be writing an old friend, telling someone thank you, things like that just to make the world a nicer society," said Michelle Lancaster, FFCLA Advisor.

In fact, to make sure they get their message across. The Bushland High School group is passing out cards next week encouraging you to to pass along an act of kindness. February 13th through 20th is "Random Acts of Kindness" week and they want you to get involved.

"During that week students are going out into the community with cards. Each card is numbered so that way we can track it to find out where everybody is located and what random act of kindness they passed on to others," said Lancaster.

"I want to see a lot of kindness through our school and while am out and just hanging out with friends or something. I'd like to go on the website and see where all the cards went to all the different places too," said David Bergerson, Bushland High School Junior.

The program has been in place since the beginning of the school year and students say, they have been reaching out to those in the community.

"A few weeks ago I went to Wal-Mart and took a cart for a lady that was putting her groceries in her car and she said thank you and it felt good. Then a few days later, I went back and a man looked lonely and he started to talk to me so I carried on a conversation with him," said Bergerson.

So if you do get a card, track the number and then pass it along with an act of kindness for someone else.
