Funding has been restored to Franks Phillips College.
Students and faculty at Frank Phillips College (FPC) can breathe a little easier this afternoon. That's because the funding for the college has been restored by the Texas Legislature.
According to the college, Interim President Dr. Jud Hicks was told late Wednesday that the funding for four of the State's community colleges, including FPC, was restored in the proposed House budget. It will be funded through the House and State finance bills.
Had the Texas Legislature not approved the funding in its budget, FBC would have been forced to close, something that residents say would have crippled higher education in the area.
In a release, Dr. Hicks expressed appreciation to Rep. Warren Chisum and Sen. Kel Seliger for their help during the legislative process.
