AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Hundreds of people gathered at the Amarillo Elks Lodge this afternoon where they were accepting donations for the families who lost their homes in the grassfires.
The Elks Lodge had all of the makings for a good time including food, auctions, raffles and live music.
And all of the proceeds are going to the families who lost their homes in the wild fires.
It started out as a small fundraiser to help out some of the members of the Elks Lodge who lost their homes in the fires, but they decided to turn it into something bigger.
And according to Aaron Amos of the Elks Lodge, they were accepting anything and everything that would help out the families affected by this tragedy.
"The stuff I've seen go on these trucks, there's everything from suit cases, there's baby cribs, carriages, there's clothes, beds, mattresses, tables, recliners, tv's, vcr's. I saw a home theatre system go on one of these trucks. Everybody's coming together and doing a fantastic job of bringing all this stuff in."
If you would like to donate to the families and missed the Elks Lodge event, you can stop by any Toot 'N' Totum in Amarillo and donate as part of the ProNews 7 partnership, in The Panhandle Spirit.
