It's just another example of the Panhandle Spirit. Local residents plan to come out in full force this weekend at a ranch rodeo event to benefit the recent grassfire victims.
The rodeo event is this Saturday, March 19 at the Arena of Life located at South Washington and Loop 335. It all starts at 1 in the afternoon with bull riding followed by Open Ranch Bronc Riding. The Kid's Calf Scramble is at around 4 with the rodeo starting at 4:30.
Admission is free and donations will be accepted to benefit the local grassfire victims.
16 teams from area ranches will be competing in bull riding, open ranch bronc riding, cow milking, branding, sorting and mugging and stray gathered.
Sponsoring the event is the Currie Cattle Co. And Currie Ranch along with the Ambassador Hotel.
"We're also planning a hamburger cookout at noon, free of charge, and we're hoping many of our firefighters and county and city law enforcement will bring their families by so we can show them our gratitude," said Dick Buffington, one of the rodeo's organizers.
Additionally, there will be a silent auction as well as an auction with pheasant hunt and lodging at the Ambassador at River Falls Retreat.
All net proceeds will go the Wildfire Benefit Rodeo fund for wildfire victims set up at Happy State Bank.
