AMARILLO, TEXAS -- After a long week of work many of you open up a beer, but do you ever wonder what the science behind the suds is? That was just the idea at the Don Harrington Discovery Center Friday night. It's event, "Beerology," tapped into the science of beer, wine, and spirits.
The adults-only evening featured the importance of yeast, and focused on how beer is rooted in biochemistry and physics by taste testing. There was even a look at how Moonshine is made, and a taste test, too. "It's corn meal and barley malt and yeast and a little bit of sugar and a lot of water. When you combine those things and cap it it off so no oxygen is there the yeast does this wonderful thing, it makes alcohol. That really is the fundamental start of all the alcoholic beverages we have," said Chip Lindsey with the Don Harrington Discovery Center.
The next "After Dark" event for the discovery center will be in May Friday the 13th. The topic, the science of fear.
