What has 750 million users, serves 70 different languages and offers innovative communication services such as video chatting?
Facebook.
That's right, Facebook announced its new video chat feature Wednesday afternoon. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's co-founder and CEO, announced significant changes in the social network including Skype-powered video chat calling, group chat and a redesigned chat tool.
Zuckerberg had people on the heels of their feet after last week he said his company would announce "something awesome" this week.
The new video calling feature is built into the chat platform that already exists. Facebook says it is "the easiest way to get connected with video." It's as easy as a few simple clicks at the top of the chat window.
Additionally, Facebook is launching a group chat feature. Users will now be able to have a conversation with multiple people at a time.
The entire chat bar has been redesigned to be different sizes depending upon the browser being used. There will also be a chat bar that includes the people they communicate with most.
During the last week, many speculated that Zuckerberg's "awesome" announcement would be about an iPad application or a new iPhone photo-sharing application.
Zuckerberg says these new chat features are part of Facebook's "launching season 2011."
