AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A Borger woman is now in police custody after she allegedly passed counterfeit money at various locations in the Texas Panhandle.

According to Amarillo Police, 36-year-old Shannon Nicole Washer was arrested Friday Aug. 12 after she allegedly tried to buy merchandise at a location in the 3300 block of South Bell Street.

Police say Washer tried to buy items and the manager would not accept the money. Washer then took the money and left the store.

Officers detained Washer in a nearby parking lot and found several $20 and two $1 bills in her possession. Police determined the money had the same serial numbers.

Washer's vehicle, a Chevrolet Avalanche, was searched and yielded 23 counterfeit $100 bills and 13 counterfeit $10 bills.
