CANYON, TEXAS -- Canyon ISD had similar talks about its budget for the coming fiscal year Monday.
The state's budget shortfall had significant effects on C.I.S.D. which made $3.3 million in cuts.
Randy McDowell, Assistant Super Intendant of Business Operations, says balancing that budget wasn't painless, and it came with a lot of hard decisions.
"We absorbed about 55 positions through that process and cut a lot out of the non payroll area also and through that we were able to balance the budget tonight with no tax increase and we're proud of that."
McDowell also said 10 percent of C.I.S.D. cuts were non-payroll, which also amounted to five percent of all the cuts, from administration offices down to custodial staff.
