Man's life threatened in Walmart parking lot

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A Tennessee man is now behind bars after police say he chased another man and threatened to kill him.

According to Amarillo Police, a man was getting in his car at 3700 I-40 East when he was approached by a male subject armed with a knife. The suspect said he was going to kill the man but did not demand money, police said.

The victim's vehicle was already started so he put in gear and drove away. As for the suspect, he was seen running through the parking lot.

Walmart security officers then chased the suspect to where he climbed over a fence in the 4000 block of East 22nd. Police were able to detain the suspect.

He was identified as David Clair Watson, 37, of Jonesborough, Tenn. He is now in custody on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
