AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Halloween is right around the corner but Amarillo College is finding artistic ways to remind everyone Dia de Los Muertos is also coming up.
Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is the Mexican holiday that focuses on remembering family members or friends that have passed away. AC opened a new Day of the Dead Art Exhibit on Monday which will remain open for viewing through November 4. Students used a variety of mediums to create artwork that celebrates Day of the Dead.
"We have drawings, paintings, three-dimensional pieces, all talking about the Mexican holiday of Day of the Dead," said Professor of Art at Amarillo College, Steve Cost. "Kind of like Memorial Day would be in the United States."
AC had to expand the exhibit this year due to increased enrollment. You can find the Day of the Dead artwork in Amarillo College's Russell Hall and the fourth floor of the Lynn Library.
