AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Although Amarillo's homeless numbers are down a little, the problem isn't going away.
That's why the Amarillo Coalition for the Homeless, Atmos energy and Xcel energy hosted Monday's 15th Annual Beans and Cornbread Luncheon. It helped raise money for several local homeless programs, something organizers say will help countless individuals, families and our whole community.
"It's a great event because there's no administrative overhead," said Continuum of Care Chairwomen Susan Barrows. "The dollars are matched by the Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation so it's a great opportunity to really make a significant contribution with your contribution."
The event also marked the start of the Interfaith Campaign for the Homeless community effort.
